Salary

Pro-rata salary £24,362 to £28,225 per annum (Full time salary £34,804 to £40,322 per annum), together with USS pension benefits.

The normal expectation is that the successful applicant will be appointed to the minimum of the scale with annual increments on 1 October each year (subject to completing six months service).

This is a part time maternity cover until 13/07/2021.

Main Purpose of the Post

The post holder will be responsible for developing and supporting the organisation of the UK Postgraduate Training & Leadership platform for Asthma researchers (including PhD students and Post-doctoral positions) at the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research (AUKCAR). He/she will coordinate the Postgraduate (PG) platform activities; ensure optimal communication across the network of students and post-docs; and work with partners across the Centre to optimise and develop appropriate PG resources, including online resources. The candidate would be expected to develop a mentoring scheme with programme leads, for postgraduates and post-doctoral early career researchers (ECR), and the role will also include developing an alumni network.

Applications are welcomed from those with a strong record of research in any area of clinical science, and who can demonstrate their skills as a coordinator of people and organisational skills relevant to developing and delivering a training programme.

The post-holder must be able to drive the training scheme agenda on behalf of the Platform Leads and be able to take personal responsibility for developing aspects of the postgraduate programme.

Terms and Conditions of employment

Hours: 24.5 per week

Annual leave: 31 days per annum plus Bank Holidays (pro rata for part time staff)

The salary will be on the Grade 8 salary scale.

The appointment is subject to the General Terms of Appointment for Academic and related Staff.
