Dr Louise Fleming has been awarded a 3 year Asthma UK Senior Clinical Fellowship Award.

Louise works at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. Her project is entitled “Identifying and improving adherence in children with asthma using novel technologies”.

To identify adherence in children she will try a number of novel devices which use a variety of techniques to measure whether an inhaler is being used, and if it is if it is being used properly.

To improve adherence, the most promising new device will be taken forward to a clinical trial to compare the new device to current practice. The device itself will form part of the intervention - with additional elements including a short animation to educate both children and parents.
