At-risk children with asthma

Bubble Plot from the Paper
6 Jun 2018

A new study published today shows that previous asthma attacks, persistent symptoms and poor access to care were associated with substantially increased risk of asthma attacks in children.

Professor Hilary Pinnock led the study, working with a great team from across the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research. The study team reviewed data from 68 previously published papers to identify the key risks that were associated with asthma attacks in children. Their hope is that clinical and demographic features identified in the review may help clinicians to focus risk reduction management on high-risk children, while population level factors identified may be used by health service planners and policymakers to target healthcare initiatives.

The paper was published in the journal 'Thorax'.
