Patient and Public Involvement Lead, Elisabeth Ehrlich, has shared her experience of asthma and asthma treatments at the Enquire gallery, based within the new National Museum of Scotland Science and Technology section, Edinburgh.

The Enquire gallery explores the spirit of scientific enquiry and how technological advances have affected this process over time. Elisabeth contributed to the first section of the gallery, which focuses on drug development and its human impact.

Elisabeth helped to provide context to this section of the gallery by sharing her experience of asthma and the ways in which it has changed due to modern medicines. Her interview, which was recorded and displayed digitally, discusses the impact of evolving asthma treatments and the ways in which she has contributed to asthma research.

Elisabeth found her experience at the new galleries valuable, stating:

“I feel privileged to be part of this wonderful development in the National Museum. It is important for ordinary people to participate as well as the brilliant scientists, who make the breakthroughs in medicine. I feel that asthmatics today will benefit from seeing how far treatments have come and how easy it is to take regular medication today. It is also an encouragement for future scientists , hopefully, to come up with the next step forward for asthmatics.”

The new National Museum of Scotland ‘Enquire’ gallery is open daily from 10.00 to 17.00.
