Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research members Professor Hilary Pinnock and Dr Luke Daines have contributed to a publication highlighting a selection of the scientific advances from the ERS Clinical Assembly that were presented at the 2017 ERS International Congress (9-13 September - Milan, Italy).
Selected from the wide-ranging Congress programme, Centre members Aziz Sheikh, Mike Thomas and Audrey Buelo's work was highlighted in the general practice and primary care, self-management, and predicting future risk summaries, respectively. Aziz Sheikh presented on the potential for telehealth and digitised health systems to impact healthcare delivery, Mike Thomas focused on a self-guided breathing retraining intervention for adults with asthma, and Audrey Buelo presented her systemic review which identified past exacerbation and persistent symptoms as strong predictors of future asthma attacks in children.
