Personalised Care: A patient perspective at the BTS Winter Meeting 2016

On 9th December,  AUKCAR contributed to a symposium on Delivering Precision Medicine and Personalised Care at the British Thoracic Society Winter Meeting in London. Co-chaired by Chris Griffiths and Seb Johnston, the symposium kicked off in great style with Elisabeth Ehrlich, one of our PPI Leads, giving the patient perspective on personalised care. In her presentation, Elisabeth talked about how her partnership with her GP and pharmacist has transformed her life and experience of living with asthma. We think Elisabeth may have been the only ‘patient’ at the meeting, so we were very proud that she represented the Centre so well.

Ian Pavord then spoke about precision medicine and Jennifer Quint on the use of big data, followed by Aziz Sheikh ending the symposium with an erudite view on how learning health care systems could help deliver personalised care.
